Advanced Exercise Recovery Techniques: Shakeouts (update)

There are a great deal of techniques to improve exercise recovery. Some work better than others, and some standout above the crowd. Amongst those are cold whirl pools, contrast baths and shakeouts. A shakeout is exactly what it sounds like. It is the rhythmic shaking of a muscle or entire body part. This shaking actually works to change the “resting” level of excitement in the nervous system involving that muscle or body part. The change in excitement will cause a change in muscle tetanus, bringing the entire muscle to a more relaxed state and allowing an improved blood flow in the area, thus improving recovery, and aiding in strength gains and muscle growth.
