With so many supplements out there, how do you know what the best ones are? The are almost impossible to keep up with. Over the next several months I will outline what I believe to be the best supplements for noticeable results.
We will get to why in a moment, first lets talk about a few other things that it does. Resveratrol is an antioxidant that forms in the presence of mold. Hence the two most common places to find it are in wine and peanut products. It has been shown to help prevent heart disease, several vascular diseases, several forms of cancer and a myriad of other diseases.
Well, it appears to have two major functions. The first is that it increases and recycles nitric oxide NO in the blood vessels (and muscles). This increases vascular relaxation (vasodilation). Which, in turn increases blood flow to all tissues as well as protein synthesis, also known as muscle growth. This has some substantial benefits, especially when combined with arginine or glutamine, which promote NO, muscle growth and optimal growth hormone. The resveratrol, when added to theses, will induce longer lasting levels of NO. Weight lifters would observe this by the much longer lasting muscle pump.
The other function is that resveratrol is actually a very mild estrogen. In addition, it has a high affinity for specific receptors of estrogens, and arimatase receptors are the ones we are focused on. I know that it being a estrogen sounds bad, but that it is a weak estrogen is actually good. the blocks stronger estrogens, and results in decrease in your estrogen output. This stimulates the pituitary to increase testosterone. This is done through an increase in Luteinizing Hormone, which in turn stimulates the testicles to produce more testosterone. In addition, Resveratrol also sensitizes the testicles to this, causing them to make more testosterone per unit of LH released. Good news ladies, you do not have any testicles, so you will get all of the lovely benefits of resveratrol without the beard and hairy chest.
For those trying to get pregnant, resveratrol increases fertility. Part of this is a result of the increased testosterone, the rest is all resveratrol. It actually the density of the vas deferins (where sperm are made) which results in both an increase in sperm count as well as sperm count. This shows that the sperm are healthier as well.
Improved workouts, better workout recovery, longer muscle pumps, more energy, weight loss, increased muscle mass. For men, it also has improve erections and even erectile dysfunctions (that doesn’t mean it will cure it).
